It was quite a detour to get to the “end of the world” but it was worth it. We made the long journey to Punta Arenas with plans of visiting Torres del Paine and were rewarded with a window of wonderful weather that lasted just long enough for our stay in the park. Back in Punta Arenas we then got a taste of the real Patagonian weather as we were blasted by wind all day during a trip to Tierra del Fuego. It is an oil field service town that was built in the 1950s and is now a little run down. For the short time we were there I enjoyed snapping photos of the aging buildings.
