Mark JohnstonGEAR REVIEW: EAGLE CREEK PACK-IT SPECTER QUICK TRIP Mark Johnston October 8 Gear, Reviews Hoping to reduce weight I chose the Eagle Creek Pack-It Specter Quick Trip toiletry bag to pack my hygiene kit for the year. But for the remainder of this review I’ll refer to it as the Quick Rip! Hahahaha! Only a third of the way through the trip I was praying this bag would hold it together as various tears appeared in the external pockets through which my toothbrush began a daring escape. Since then more holes have appeared in the internal lining of the base and all that ripstop nylon seems to be just for show. One reviewer named Kayak Camper wrote “stands up to being tossed around and crammed into carry bags” in a review on the Eagle Creek website. Don’t listen to that guy. P.S. The zipper pull on mine fell off before we even left Utah. Carrying capacity initially impressed me: toothbrush, travel toothpaste, razor, spare blades, soap in box, travel shaving foam, travel deodorant, travel mouthwash, eye drops, chap stick, folding hair brush and nail clippers. But maybe my mistake was packing too much and this toiletry bag was designed for much smaller, lighter loads. Loads, say, that would probably do better in a ziplock bag. So, to keep it brief, the Eagle Creek Pack-It Specter Quick Trip is not durable and your toothbrush might flee you in the night. GEAR REVIEW: EAGLE CREEK PACK-IT SPECTER QUICK TRIPThe Eagle Creek Pack-It Specter Quick Trip toiletry bag is a very lightweight option to pack your hygiene kit in. But it won't hold up to the wear and tear of long-term travel. Luggage (toiletry bag)ProsUltra lightweightConsNot durableConspires with toothbrush 1.3Overall Score
